Combination Line Drills
Notes on General Test Format
-
You are tested the moment you enter the room
-
Remember to bow when you enter and leave the room and
when you enter and leave the mat
-
Bow to the windowed office if higher black belts are
in there
-
If you are sitting on the mat, sit cross-legged (loose
cross-legged is ok) and never with the soles of your feet pointing at the
instructor (it is a sign of disrespect)
-
Do not chat with your neighbors
-
Do not lean against the wall
-
If you must excuse yourself while you are a passive participant
in a test (someone sitting on the side), wait for a good break point (between
tests) before bowing off the mat
-
You must conduct yourself seriously at all times during
a test
-
You will be called up and given a number
-
When called, say "Yes Ma'am!" or "Yes Sir!" (LOUDLY!)
and run into position
-
Positions line up starting in the right side of the room
-
Line yourself up at arm's length with the person next
to you and in front of you
Notes on Combination Line Drills
-
Each combination line drill will be repeated twice
-
If you are unclear on a requested technique, ask for
clarification
-
You must execute all the techniques requested
-
Start a combination line drill in joon-bee stance
-
If a stance is not stated, you may do the technique in
any stance
-
If a technique requires a punch but does not state which
one, you may do any punch
-
If you are requested to do a reverse punch, a front punch
is not acceptable
-
Understand the technique points (striking surface, target
points, etc) for the technique questions
-
Do not assume that the person next to you is executing
the right technique
-
Be confident in your own interpretation and stick with
it
-
Kihap (LOUDLY!) with each technique executed or at the
end of a set of techniques
-
Execute each technique correctly and with conviction
and spirit
-
Continue executing the same set of techniques to the
end of the room and freeze in the last motion
-
When requested to turn around, turn around with a (LOUD!)
kihap into a front stance with a down block
-
Relax your upper body when executing the techniques!
-
Don't hold your breath throughout the drill or you will
faint 8-)
-
When in doubt, kihap!
