TKD Formalities and Bowing
-
Line up and bow in the beginning of class and at the
end of class:
-
Face Front: "Cha-Riut!
Sun Sang Nim Ge, Kyung Nyeh!"

Face Black Belts: "Cha-Riut! Ko Dan Ja Nim Ge, Kyung
Nyeh!"
-
Address instructors with respect
-
Bow when you enter and leave the workout area. If you
are in the matted room, bow when getting on and off the mat
-
Obtain permission before leaving workout area
-
Always wear shoes when outside of workout area, especially
to go the bathroom
-
Do not dress in the bathrooms - dress in the locker rooms
-
Bow to higher belts if you see them in the gym the first
time
-
Bow to windowed office if any of the masters is there
when you go into the matted room
-
Always bow to Dr. Min, Master Yoon, and Dr. Ur when addressing
them
Front Stance
-
Feet shoulder-width apart

Front foot straight forward

Rear foot pointing as far forward as possible

Back leg is straight and locked

Front leg is almost 90-degrees with the top of the toes
visible

Shoulders and hips are square

Moving forward in front stance, head level does not change

Move forward by moving back leg in a crescent pattern
Horseback Stance

Knees bent in a sitting position

Both feet straight forward

Spine is straight

Posture is square
Punches
-
Wrist is straight when punching

Strike with knuckles of the first two fingers next to
thumb

Thumb is on top of fingers, not under

Exert force at the end of the punch, not throughout

Force propelling the punch comes from the hips, not the
shoulders

Target:

Low: Groin

Middle: Solarplexus

Reverse Punch: Punch with fist opposite side of the leg
that is forward

Front Punch: Punch with fist that is same side as the
leg that is forward

Always punch at the centerline of the body.
Stretch Kicks
