Tonight's crowd was enthusiastic and good listeners: that's a rare combination, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, except for the deafening claps and random exhortations offered by the yahoo seated to my left. I suppose he figured that if he yelled loud enough, the Trio would be even more motivated in their playing. Good thing I had ear plugs!

I would have liked it even more if they didn't present such a conundrum in identifying the setlist, but just like the Sunday crosswords, it takes the fun away if such puzzles are all too easy, right? Props to MichaelZ and Audfellow for sharing their setlist suggestions.

On New Year's Day 2025, SFJAZZ posted an interesting essay by Vijay Iyer about his journey as a musician. In addition, they announced that the previous night's show will be streamed on Friday, Jan 10 for SFJAZZ members.
