Notes

It was certainly a bummer to get notification from Phil on Aug 16 that he'd come down with COVID-19 and needed to sit out today's festival, but the word from Grahame is that Phil was on the mend, and that we'd see him back in action real soon. Samson Grisman pulled yeoman's duty by stepping up to hold down Phil's place in the final set, and Peter Rowan made a fine addition to the party!

I was really impressed with this set: maybe the band put in some extra rehearsal time? The only misfire was the cantina shuffle version of Panama Red – I think Peter's psuedo-flamenco take on the tune through the others for a real loop, and it was jarring to hear folks playing out-of-time with one another during the first few minutes. Sometimes it's better to listen than to strum! Despite that stumble, they pulled it together for a big-time rockin' take on Revolution, and the Music Never Stopped took things out to the stratosphere, wow!

Thanks for another fine day!
