Gov't Mule

• Warren Haynes: guitar, vox;

I'm not sure what the next level epithet is past 'raining cats & dogs', but we're definitely seeing that tonight: it's coming down on giant, soaking buckets instead of the usual teensy raindrops. Hard enough that folks are driving at 50-80% of the regular speed limit, and runoff is happening in all sorts of unexpected places. Happily, we arrived safely at Rockridge BART and got a primo parking spot in the front row, out of the bad weather. Missed the train, but waiting on the platform is dry, if kind of cold tonight.

15 or 20 minutes later we arrive at our seats and hear from a neighbor that Matt Abts is out sick tonight: dang! At least John Molo is subbing, so we know that the job has been handed to another pro who has lots of history with Warren. First set is pretty good, if slightly tentative. Second set is really strong: lots of jamming! And both sets featured a fair amount of Mule-dub: I love it when Warren goes deep like that! I'm glad that we came, but feel like I need to make it to another Mule soon in order to check in with Matt. Hope he's feeling better right quick!
