Dang, the house can't be more than half-full tonight: that's too bad! And the stage has been expanded to take up nearly the entire floor – even though the band isn't that large: hard to know if that's a Covid-19 safety measure or something to obscure the lack of GA sales. Since the floor never got crowded, I'm going with the first reason on that one (justified by the second).
I thought the band took awhile to get going tonight: maybe they were feeling a little slow from a travel day? There wasn't anything wrong with the first hour, it just didn't really hit with the force I expected.
SFJAZZ streamed the Friday night show live; I was busy making dinner during the first half, but I enjoyed the little bit that I heard, and I was glad to catch most of the second half, though disappointed to note that they seemed to repeat an awful lot of tunes from Thursday: Ting tells me that's the normal complaint from a deadhead: wanting things to be totally different from night to night!
Big thanks to Ting for the photo gallery!
Whoa! This section is incomplete for now, sorry!
