[7:36 PM lights down, let's go!]
[7:37 PM] Tonight's entertainment starts out with a previously unannounced 'appetizer': a very short play by Will Eno, featuring Kathryn Smith-McGlynn as Ms. Forester: a substitute teacher facing a class of somewhat cynical and disinterested college students (Dinah Berkeley, LeRoy S. Graham III, Emma Van Lare, and Jeff Wittekiend). It's witty and absurd … and a good way of setting the scene for the mania of Wakey Wakey.
[7:49 PM] the Substitution ends; house lights stay down, and a few seconds later, we've moved on to the main event.
[7:49 PM] House lights come up on Tony Hale as Guy in his wheelchair, wondering what's going on.
[8:48 PM] all done! What a show… A word storm … a mind's journey … a real trip!
I really enjoyed tonight's play(s) … both operated on clever word-play and a willingness to open up to the ideas being shared rather than watching some sort of activity and wondering how the story being told was going to play out. Well done!
Big thanks to the larch for today's stage photo!
