Felix Mendelssohn (1809–1847): Lied ohne Worte (Song Without Words) in D Major for Cello and Piano, Op. 109 (1845)
Edvard Grieg (1843–1907): Cello Sonata in A minor, Op. 36 (1882–83)
Frédéric Chopin (1810–1849): slow movement from the Cello Sonata, Op. 65 (1847)
I don't recall Wu Han being nearly so talkative on her prior visits, but tonight she really bent our ears: nearly fifteen minutes for her program summary following the Beethoven opener. It was interesting to listen to, but yikes! Might have been better to try several short speeches instead!
Bruce Adolphe wrote Couple for David Finkel & Wu Han, and you can watch him discuss the piece with them in these Vimeo shorts
And as Wu Han related during her talk, Lera Auerbach's Sonata was also written particularly for these performers.
