I like watching silent films, particularly when they are accompanied by live music, so this show was a natural for grabbing my attention when the summer sessions were first announced.
El Automóvil Gris can be summarized as a simple morality play: bad guys cause trouble, get caught, pay the price for their evil ways. I thought the storyline could have been trimmed a bit in order to keep things moving faster, but overall, it was pretty enjoyable to watch, especially the chase scenes as the bad guys were tracked down one by one.
Troker did a pretty good job with the accompaniment – apparently, they've been doing this show for a few years now – and though there were a few times that the music seemed anachronistic, for the most part, it was a welcome addition to the production.
