Notes

Whoa! This section is incomplete for now, sorry!

Somehow I seem to have misplaced my hastily scrawled shorthand notes from the moment of performance, hopefully the setlist above is reasonably accurate. Ting found my notes tucked into the door pocket of our car, yay! Demonstrates again my foolishness in screwing up my system for making timestamps, and reinforces the need to get it working again. Anyways, I'm super glad that we were able to squeeze this show into our social calendar, I think the master musicians involved really stepped up to the challenge of creating a soul stirring experience for the crowd.

I don't recall having previously heard a piece from Charles Lloyd that so distinctly evoked the Grateful Dead's classic Dark Star, though with my rusty sieve of a memory, it's entirely possible that the familiarity I sensed arose entirely from that deja vu created by faulty recollection processes. Irregardless, the tune roped me in from the opening phrase, as if to announce to one and all: listen!, and rapture in the now!

As you can tell by the question marks, most of my setlist titles are guesses; you'd think that I could do better at remembering the titles by now, but Charles could help a little too – I don't think he introduced any of them tonight!

All to soon our listening time was due to end, but before sending us off into the night, Charles treated us to a short sweet goodnight kiss, a heartfelt rendition of You Are So Beautiful. Yowza! What a way to go out!
