Buffet dinner and an open bar? That's the kind of holiday party I like! I was quite surprised to show up on time to find only a small turnout assembled, but more folks trickled in as the evening wore on, with the crowd leaking most noticeably during Lebo's generous set of tunes. What with the party atmosphere, this made for a somewhat more casual evening than most nights out, as the entrance or departure of friends might stimulate a brief conversation that wouldn't have taken place at a normal show. Hopefully the crowd didn't seem too distracted to the musicians!

I really appreciated the variety of tunes that the band played, and the turnover among the participants kept me on my toes as well – hard to tell the players by ear if you don't take good notes at the time of the event! I was a little surprised when Lebo wrapped things up after Forever Young – I guess I took it for granted that we'd get a song or two more for an encore – but the early close meant that we had a little more time to enjoy a night cap while talking with the other stragglers before heading off towards home.

Big thanks to the crew at Sweetwater for hosting this party and sharing the love by inviting us to their celebration – it's nice to be considered part of the extended family!
