Planet of the Abts

Pull into the Lakeside Inn a few minutes after 5 PM to find Chuck there getting the band checked in too. Somehow they've got the room assignments mixed up, so we play a bit of “who's on first” with the office manager. After waiting our turn, we find that she needs help to process or change request – just one night this time! – so we head to the room after promising to return before we leave to sign the charge slip.

A few minutes to unpack, a bit of time to unwind from the road, then time to rally for the party, dinner, and tonight's show. Chuck has returned to ferry the band up the hill; we settle things with the office, then head on up in our car – only getting slightly lost this time out – and manage to arrive just barely ahead of the band. It's a low key scene tonight, and as we eat and socialize, Justin the sound guy and the boys from the band take their time to get everything sorted out.

Eventually, things are more or less ready to go, and the gig is on! Yeah! Rock and roll, baby!! It's a fun time, but due to my poor packing (didn't bring clothes for colder weather), I'm distracted by the chilly wind enough that my setlist is a shambles. Maybe someday I'll find out what they played … should have asked T-Bone if they had a setlist to share when we were hanging out in the kitchen eating Janet's fabulous cheese-pie (“it's not cheesecake”) after the gig.
