Notes

With just two performers, this was a pretty chill show: exactly what I was thinking when I sampled the album they released and then decided it would be fun for a Sunday evening.

Ting's pop showed his appreciation for the vibe by snoozing quietly through most of the show. Nothing like an early evening nap when you need to recharge, right?

I really enjoyed the event: there was enough going on to keep my listening attention moving around, but not so much that I ever felt like was losing track of the happening.

Ting commented that she could have foregone some of the back and forth praising between the two – yeah yeah, we know you think your musical partner is one of kind, we got it the first time – but I'll pin that excess on the discomfort of a short duo tour, where the two haven't quite worked out where their comfort zone lies with respect to the task of engaging the audience while putting on a good show. Give 'em another tour and I bet that aspect would be shorter and more polished instead of hesitant or repetitive like it was tonight.

Even though it was a sing-along, Nonvignon was my favorite of the night: happy and buoyant, that's always a good vibe to end with, right?
