Tonights show was pretty good!

I especially enjoyed the Sinfonia Concertante with Paul Neubauer; I'm not sure that I've seen him before, nor heard that work. Both experiences were outstanding! I can understand why some reviewers complained that the insertion of the Tertis/Hellmesberger cadenza was out of character with the rest of the work – it's pretty easy to tell that part isn't Mozart! – but on the other hand, both Hope and Neubauer clearly enjoyed playing it, and as it clearly called for a pair of virtuosi, it's not likely that I'll get too many chances to hear it again. I thought it was extra sharp of Daniel Hope to follow that with the tranquility of the Koechlin: Idylle – kinda like the kiss goodnight at the end of a hot date, right?
