You wouldn't think that a solo acoustic guitar set in the midst of a day long festival would be a particularly good scheduling choice, but Jim James made it work just fine. Was it blazing hot? Yes, it was blazing hot: all the better for simply sitting still and listening, while melting slowly into the amphitheatre. Were the yahoo's loud and obnoxious? No, somewhat surprisingly, they were not. My guess is that they went off to the shade to relax and chit-chat far away, leaving us listeners to bask in the sun and the glow of Jim's music. Did Jim play it safe? Nope. Lots of curious covers. Lots of excellent singing. A good time!

Care to give it a listen? Alex Leary posted his recording of the set on the Live Music Archive, though curiously, he did so as if it was a set by My Morning Jacket instead of a solo show.
