[6:05 PM announcements from Big Steve, band out]
West Oakland BART station is crazy busy with folks circling around and gumming things up, but I slide into an open spot before finishing my first go round. Yeah! That's the way you do it! Walk inside the station, climb to the platform, then wait a couple minutes for the next westbound train to arrive. Ten or fifteen minutes later I'm hustling through the crowd at xxx station; gotta move it if I'm gonna get to the square on top. Four blocks later and it's just now 6 ok on the dot. I grab a seat dead center in the second row, and a few minutes later Big Steve is proposing his own Universal Health Care initiative: unlimited free weed for everyone! Bet that one will go over great with the numbskulls in DC!
Moonalice is onstage and ready to rumble, and with a drum roll from Molo, we're off! It's a fun time, even as the fog blows thicker overhead, adding an edge of wind-chill on top of the high 50's air temperature. Summer in San Francisco: be sure to wear some flowers with your leather jacket!
Roger seems unusually talkative today, offering many tune dedications, and stopping to make chit-chat while Pete swaps from bass to keyboard and vice-versa. I tried to note them above, but I'm sure I missed a few, and it's entirely possible that I got some wrong … that darn auto-derange function on my not-so-smart-phone is hard to work around.
Like most shows, this one gets stronger and stronger towards the end, and my favorite for the day is the Revolution finale. Yay! Beatles!
Sooner or later audio and video will get posted on the Moonalice website in case you want to see or hear things for yourself!
