Notes

A day later and all the eager fishies are assembled in the hallowed hall again!

Marc Stone started us off with a bluesey set mixing his originals with a bunch of old classics. A fine way to get the ball rolling, but of course, we were all impatient for the main act, and my guess is that most of the crowd was boozing it up and glad-handing old buddies instead of paying much attention to Marc's set. (Yet another reason to arrive early and get a spot up front: fewer distractions!)

The Radiators continued the mashup game with tonight's opener, but for the moment, I'm stumped. Dave was singing Chris Kenner's I Like It Like That over something that sounded to me like the Bobby Sharp tune Unchain My Heart (made famous by Ray Charles, and Joe Cocker, among others), but listening now to the commercial release, I'm flummoxed. It's similar, but I ain't certain about that match. Oh well. Sometimes you just gotta face defeat and move on!

The band certainly moved on, following up a brief Edlib on Lowell George's Roll Um Easy with the fan favorite, Hard Rock Kid. There he goes! By this time we was all boppin' and grooving, and the next few hours slid by like brown-bag wine handed between a bunch of hobos: take a nip, dance a jig, holler for the heck of it, then pass that bottle to me! Ah, we were all out of our heats, and loving every second of it.

All too soon it was the end of the night, with the staff pushing brooms through the debris and encouraging us ravers to head out into the night. Dang! Must have been quite a party!

Jon Hart ran a multitrack recording; sooner or later, their part of the show will be available for purchase from Live Downloads. Do it! You'll be glad you did!
