[8:06 PM lights down, announcements, waiting in the dark, band out]
I listen to the start of tonight's Giants-Mets wildcard match-up on the radio at home, then in my car as I head to West Oakland BART. A quick trip across the bay, followed by a quick hustle to BeerHall and I'm seated at a table, watching the middle of the game. Madbum is dominating! But Snydergaard is blazing too. A great game if you prefer a pitcher's duel to a slugfest! 7:48 PM I dash for Herbst. 7:57 PM upstairs and in my seat, yay! 8:02 PM still waitin… how 'bout them Giants?
Whoa! This section is incomplete for now, sorry!
I'm pretty sure that tonight's gig reproduced an expanded-for-performance version of Einaudi's 2015 album, Elements), for the first tune of the night was most certainly the opening tune off the album, Petricor. As I'm not familiar with the rest of the album, I can't really say how slavishly they followed it, but it sure looked like Einaudi was flipping through a LONG score as the night's program unwound. To my surprise, I couldn't tell whether or not the other musicians were reading also music. It seems funny to me that they might have memorized their parts while the composer hadn't!
