I was really looking forward to hearing Tim's set at this year's fest, but ended up slightly underwhelmed. Hard to say exactly why; maybe the new tunes from Pompadour just didn't tickle my musical funny bone the right way? I dunno, I can only report feeling vaguely dissatisfied by the end of the set. Looking back now, I distinctly remember leaping out of my chair to bop around to Get Up Offa That Thing – you gotta love the audacity of recasting James Brown as a string band tune – and most of the Banjo audience seemed to be up and dancing for that one. Maybe I was just feeling grouchy at that point in the day? Miffed about the morning rain and displacing my unhappiness onto Tim?
