Notes

Another fun night of Grateful Dead music. The crowd was pretty chill – especially compared with the craziness of Vegas last month. Good to be home with my norcal peeps! Happy to hang out with friendly folks before the show – makes the passing time that much more pleasantly spent.

Performance-wise, I thought tonight was pretty good, though not as high energy as the Vegas shows. And just a little short. Middle of the first set was pretty darn good, especially Bobby's masterful guidance leading the band from Standing on the Moon into Cassidy. Well done!

Things got considerably crazier on the floor during setbreak – ain't that always the case! – and that energy bubble seemed to spill over into the music too. Estimated » Eyes was especially fun tonight, but the jam coming out of drums seemed kind of odd to me. Not anything like a traditional space segment, so I didn't label it that way. More like a noodling, rocking bit that eventually morphed into the slow blues of Black Peter. GDTRFB could have been the hot closer, but I felt like they were way too sloppy with the arrangement tonight. Meh!

Ripple was nicely done, and when the lights stayed down after the band left the stage, I knew we were in for another treat. Thanks for taking us out on a rocking note guys!
