Seated dead center in the second tier up off the floor gave me a much better impression of the room sound than last week's introductory show with Los Lobos. Although the performance occasionally sounded mushy or congested – no doubt to the big band volume – for the most part it was vastly improved.

And of course, the repertoire was great. I love hearing Mingus tunes!
