REB was in town, so
TC proposed a Wheelie gathering at Stoddard's in Sunnyvale. The term Wheelie
refers to a member of The Wheel, which is a maillist started
by a mutual group of friends who have a common interest in the music of the
Grateful Dead and who wanted to escape from the noise of rec.music.gdead.
It quickly expanded to include other friends and friends of friends. I joined
The Wheel in 1993. Although I no longer have time to actively participate
anymore, I still love seeing friends that I have made and kept in touch with
through The Wheel. It constantly reminds me of the truth in the lyrics of
the group's namesake:
The wheel is turning and you can't slow down
You can't let go and you can't hold on
You can't go back and you can't stand still
If the thunder don't get you, then the lightning will

Stoddard's is a brewpub with good food.
As always, dessert is the best part besides the company, of course. REB lives
in New Jersey, but he comes out every so often because his company is based
out here. While Taro and TC live in the Bay Area, we do not see them as often
as we would like. That is the problem with the Bay Area is that it is so
spread out that it is often hard to get together, especially with the kind
of schedule we keep!
