 Chris Chambers for a Side-Kick

This was the last of the special workshops I held for Oracle Taekwondo. This one covered the basics of Taekwondo. As the basics form the foundation on which a student builds the rest of his/her skills, I felt that this was probably the most important of the workshops. Matt Geis and I instructed this workshop.

The workshop started earlier than we could get a room for, so we held part of it in the hallway outside the normal room. I covered all the basic hand techniques, blocks, and kicks. Matt took over once we moved into the regular room, breaking down the techniques even further and having the students do them in slow motion. Slowing down a technique is very difficult, as it requires fine muscle control, but very effective for understanding the mechanics of the motion.

As much as I enjoyed holding the workshops, I am glad that this is the last one as it was a lot of work putting them together!
