From the Complete & Official Forms of the World Tae Kwon Do Federation, Taekwondo forms or Poomse is described as consisting of "stances, blocks, punches, strikes, and kicks arranged in a meaningful order in response to attacks from multiple imaginary assailants attacking from several directions."

At UCMAP, each level is required to learn 2 forms, starting with Gibon Poomse I and II (the basic forms) at White-Belt Level, then Taegeuk I and Palgwe I at Yellow-Belt Level, and so on, for a total of 8 Taegeuk, 8 Palgwe Colored-Belt Forms, and 9 Black-Belt Forms. Since Master Yoon only brought in the Palgwe style of forms as a testing requirement when he came on board 2 years ago, it was a handful of forms to learn, especially for the higher belts.

The Taekwondo Forms Workshop is therefore split into 2 workshops, the first would cover the lower colored-belt forms and the second the higher colored-belt forms. This is the first of the two Taekwondo Forms Workshops. Perry Seto, a 4th Dan Black-Belt, guest-instructed this workshop with Dr. Frank Choy and myself assisting.
