One great thing about having a house in the
hills is that a day at home is still a vacation. We live in a quiet
part of the hills, so there's usually no traffic noise outside. The houses
are spaced far enough apart that we can blast the stereo (with the windows
closed) and not disturb the neighbors too much. We have met most of our
neighbors through the local Neighborhood Watch program. Most of them are
older folks. Some are retired and all very nice.
We live on Villanova which could be translated
as "House of the Sun" in Spanish. When we first moved here
in 1993, I could not get the Animal's tune "House of the Rising Sun"
out of my head for weeks.
Throughout the year, the position of the setting
sun shifts slowly across the horizon. It is March and it is now setting
just over the Golden Gate. The sunsets over the bay still never cease to
amaze us. |
