We go out to lunch about once a month. It is a tradition that has
outlasted all the budget cuts. Information Systems is, in general,
a stressful job. Building a team in spite of the inherent stress
requires more than just the weekly meetings. It requires that the
team integrates both professionally and socially.
I have six people in my group with one in New York. Roland
and Antonio are also Black Belts. Roland's Black Belt is in Taekwondo.
He works out at UC Martial Arts like me. Antonio's Black Belt is
in Shaolin Kenpo. I have a great team! Everyone in the team
gets along. I have been continually impressed with the level of support
they provide each other. It is almost a no-brainer managing this
group.
For this lunch, Nathan wanted Vietnamese. Since he's the newbie
in the group, he gets to choose! We went to Thanh's in Redwood City.
The pho quality is about the same as Viet Nam Village. I can never
get sick of pho! Yummm!
I tried taking Nathan's pciture again, but he's too fast with the
shirt collar. I am not sure why he hates to get his picture taken.
Maybe someone is looking for him. Who knows?
