Niche of Parental Love Sutre (No.15, A.D.1174-1252)
The niche, 700 cm high, 450 cm wide and 250 cm deep, houses 44 statues. At the upper tier are seven Buddhist busts. Carvings in the lower tier, with the group of "praying for a son in front of Buddha" in the middle are ten groups of carvings depicting parental love in bringing up children with plots linking to each other as a picture book. These carvings are vivid and impressive. They were the outcome after Buddhism had been localized in China.
