 Prepare to Merge

On our way home after a long day's work and on our way to the Hankido Promotional Ceremonies, we were ambushed by a major jam-up on the San Mateo bridge. A roll-over accident had the west-bound lanes completely shut down, and our east-bound lanes backed up as each driver slowed to ogle the destruction.

It took us about 45 minutes to go from the start of the incline portion of the bridge (where we first hit traffic) to the actual scene of the accident, a few hundred meters west of the toll plaza. By the time we got to the scene, things were more or less all cleaned up, and Caltrans was just pulling away with one of the trashed vehicles.

Good thing it wasn't us getting rolled and squished!

We even made it to the Hankido Promotional Ceremonies on time, except that Lisa was late for the black belt meeting.
