As today was the first day to turn in an order for the upcoming 2001-02 season at Cal Performances, I was right on top of things and ready to be the first to order. As you can see, no one else was nutty enough to get there early that morning...and even better, I got free parking, as the meter I found was out of service.

Later that night, I returned to Zellerbach for an incredibly good show by Dawn Upshaw and Richard Goode. Richard has been more or less universally recognized as one of the truly great pianists of our time, and Dawn is no slouch of a soprano by any means.

As the performers walked off-stage at the end of the first set, I was amused to take a picture of RG looking my way...I guess he spotted the camera and smiled for me!

Unfortunately, you won't see any decent performance pictures, since the lighting was rather dim, and the shots I took came out woefully blurry and over-exposed.
